The PRS is an abbreviation for Private Rented Sector.
Definition
The PRS means property which is privately owned and rented out as housing by private landlords.
According to figures in the 2020-21 English Housing Survey, the private rented sector comprises around 4.4 million households, or 19% of the households in England.
The PRS differs to the social rented sector, or social housing provided by housing associations and councils.
